The journey lengthens with each step not taken

The most common question asked of me is: why The Hand of Menes? Why not write books that have high sales potential such as Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy?
The truth is, I conceptualised The Hand of Menes (THOM), because I’m in pain; a pain that I was born with; a pain that is centuries old, yet it courses through my body like the blood that sustains my traumatic existence.
Romantic exposure cannot remedy what I endure nor could the projection of my consciousness to the realms of super humans and magical wonder. Such indulgences serve only as mere distractions from what I must confront, and that is the realisation that I, am enslaved; I, was never free and if I refuse to take this first step, I will never be free.
I grew wary of seeing Africans treated with the contempt below even that directed at animals. Why do we, as past masters of this world, now content with being the joke of it?
Why on the big screen are we portrayed as either: entertainers, athletes, prostitutes or drug pushers?
And why, to this very day, when I hear the word ‘gang’, I see my face?
The spirit within me rages like a California wildfire. It demands its freedom. It thirsts for the truth of who I am. It screams for a new narrative and its deafening call to action urges me to assemble the building blocks for a different reality. A reality where I am the master of my fate, unencumbered by racism and socioeconomic subterfuge; and as my wife Tanecia says: “if you want to see it, you create it.”
And so, begins my journey lead by The Hand of Menes, where while I look back a thousand years at our past greatness & innovation, I remain focus on the present and the urgent need to marshal our collective power with purpose and conviction.
So, join me on this once in a lifetime journey as we craft a future where our children’s children will be united by the creed:watu waliotawala hawafai kutawaliwa!- a people who ruled, must never be ruled
